Kid Lit: Race Car Dreams

I received this book for free from Running Press Kids at BEA 2016. That fact in no way influenced my opinion of the book or the content of this review.

Race Car Dreams by Sharon Chriscoe

To be published on September 13, 2016.

Goodreads Summary:
After a day at the track of zipping and zooming, a race car is tired and ready for bed. He washes his rims, fills his tummy with oil, and chooses a book that is all about speed. All toasty and warm, he drifts off to sleep, he shifts into gear . . . and dreams of the race!

My Thoughts:
Race Car Dreams is the perfect bedtime book for your race car fans. My son would have loved this book when he was 3 or 4. It reminds me a lot of Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site, which was one of our favorite bedtime stories 2 years ago.

Race car is finished racing and he’s tired, so he begins his bedtime routine. He gets washed up, he grabs his wrench (the equivalent of his teddy bear), and he reads himself a bedtime story. It’s so sweet, and the illustrations are really fun.

The story is written in rhyming statements, and the cadence works pretty well. A few phrases seemed to have one too few syllables, but overall, it’s an easy read aloud. I highly recommend it.

My Rating: 4 stars

I’m linking up with Booking Mama today for Kid Konnection. Every Saturday Julie hosts this link up for all things relating to children’s books.
