The final episode of Downton Abbey aired in the U.S. last night. It is hands down my favorite show! I can’t believe it’s really over.
I won’t spoil anything, but I wanted to share my love of this show in case you haven’t watched it yet.
Top 5 Reasons Why I Love Downton Abbey
(And why you should watch this show.)
5. The Way of Life
I started watching this show because it’s a period drama. I am a fan of Jane Austen movies, and this show is like watching a Jane Austen film only it’s set in the 20th century. The clothes, the house, the furniture. I love it all!
4. The Characters
There are SO many characters. So much drama. So much romance. There truly is a character for everyone. For those that do watch the show, I will just say that my favorite characters have always been Sybil, Anna, and Bates. But many other characters have grown on me over the years.
3. The Fighting
With so many different personalities in this show, there is almost always at least one heated argument per episode. I LOVE it. Because of the time period, there are rules about behavior, so it’s always fun to watch the anger slip out while everyone is trying to be civil. It made me smile and laugh so often.
2. The Story
Obviously I didn’t love every story line of the series, but there were so many good ones. From class struggles to wars to weddings. Every season was packed with interesting stories. I don’t think there were any seasons that didn’t hold my interest.
1. The Writing
It. Is. Phenomenal. Seriously. Almost every line of this final season is quotable.
This series is just amazingly well done all around. I have watched every episode at least twice. And I know I will keep going back for more. It’s that good!
If you haven’t watched it yet, watch it! You won’t regret it.
