Top Ten Tuesday: Book to Movie Adaptations

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

I love watching movie versions of books I’ve read. Even though I usually like the book better than the movie, I just can’t resist seeing my beloved characters brought to life on screen.

Here are the top 10 book to movie adaptations that I’m looking forward to.

Currently in production or releasing soon

1. Room

This book was so disturbing, but amazing. I need to see the movie when it comes out. Is it out already?

2. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

I love The Hunger Games so much. I don’t even care that it’s taken them forever to make all of these movies. I’m still super excited to see the last movie.

3. Allegiant (Parts 1 & 2)

I loved the Divergent series even more than The Hunger Games, until book 3. Even though I didn’t really like Allegiant the book, I will of course go see both movies. And I am very much looking forward to the conclusion of this movie series.

4. The BFG

Roald Dahl’s The BFG is one of my favorite children’s books. I tried to read it to Christopher a few months ago, but it was too advanced for him. I’ll have to try again before the movie comes out. Or maybe Jim and I will see the movie without him. I am very much looking forward to seeing this creative tale adapted for the screen.

5. Me Before You

I recently read the sequel to this book. I love the original book so much, and it will be interesting to see how it translates to the screen. It’s such a unique love story that worked very well in print. Will they be able to pull it off in a movie? I’m not sure. But I will definitely go see this movie right away.

6. The Rosie Project

This is another book that I loved. I’m not sure how I feel about Jennifer Lawrence playing Rosie, but I’m going to see this movie anyway. I just love the character of Don! It’ll be fun to see him on the screen.

Books I wish would be made into movies

7. Fangirl

My favorite book right now would make an awesome movie. Right?! Maybe it’ll happen someday.

8. The Lunar Chronicles

How amazing would it be to see The Lunar Chronicles as movies! Tons and tons of movies! Yes, please.

9. The Selection Series

I’d like many, many movies based on The Selection series as well please.

10. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

I really love this book. I have listened to the audiobook many times. There are such great characters in this story. It would make a wonderful movie.

  3. Looks like J Law dropped out of the Rosie Project – I hope the movie still gets made without her. I'd love a Selection movie and definitely Fangirl and The Lunar Chronicles. Basically your whole wishlist would make my day.

    1. I only heard about the BFG because of some other movie Steven Spielberg picked up that he's supposed to start after that movie. Now I can't remember what that other movie was. Ha.

Yes, casting will definitely make or break The Rosie Project. šŸ™‚
